Initially, we were nominated to undertake the millwork and installation packages of Almoosa Specialist Hospital’s new-themed pharmacy area, lobby atrium, reception, and doors across 21 floors. This included the creation of two impressive wooden dome structures 3 x 4.5 meters with a depth of 3.4 meters, a first-of-its-kind project for our Askar factory. Additionally, our scope encompassed the construction of atrium wall structures, elevator lobby panelling, and an extended reception counter. A total of 886 unique doors were manufactured and installed, utilising materials such as oak wood, antibacterial oak laminate, synthetic oak veneer, and a combination of GI metal door frames with NFR, FD60, FD90, and radiation doors.

Our KSA fit-out team played a crucial role in ensuring the compliance of door hardware with British standards for Fire Resistant doors, which required working with our client to suggest suitable compliant hardware. This was essential to obtain approvals from the Saudi Civil Defence. Our factory teams dedicated significant time and craftsmanship to these unique structures, including the shopfront wooden feature, which is elliptical in shape and showcases our commitment to quality and innovation.

Our scope of work with wall cladding installation extended to various areas, including the main lobby, first floor, rehab gym, and the rehab pool. One of the most challenging aspects of the project was installing wall claddings in public areas, where back supports for the wooden cladding exceeded three meters in height. To address this, we implemented steel structure supports for the wooden cladding above the admitting area, ensuring a smooth and successful installation process.

The shopfront is a focal point of the store’s design and required innovative solutions to achieve both its allure and functionality. Our design and development team meticulously selected premium materials, including glass-reinforced plastic, metals, MDF, fibreglass, and glass, to bring the vision of MacKenzie-Childs to life. Altogether, Havelock One’s turnkey approach ensured a seamless execution from initial design concepts to final handover, with the design and fit-out teams working tirelessly to deliver a space that has intricate checkered design finishes and quirky yet classic style fixtures like the tea kettle shelving units and a checkered cup as seating.

Other highlights of this project include the wall finishes, flooring, ceiling, and mezzanine office. We manufactured all the joinery and furniture pieces locally and were also responsible for the design and installation of all necessary mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and IT/AV systems to ensure the space was functional and comfortable. Havelock One brought the unique, luxurious, yet vibrant designs envisioned by 4SPACE to life. Our comprehensive scope encompassed a full turnkey fit-out, including all joinery elements, manufactured at our Bahrain factory.

Upon entering through the grand threshold, guests are transported to the golden era of the 1920s, reminiscent of the illustrious Great Gatsby era. We fashioned bold geometric shapes and intricate panels from opulent materials such as marble and brass add a touch of modernism and haute couture.

A significant source of inspiration for the design was the moon and its reflection upon the tranquil waters of the Arabian Gulf, a motif elegantly manifested in the restaurant’s ceiling design. The pendant globe lights, with their moon-like textures, cast an ethereal glow, while the rippled steel-clad ceiling artfully mimics the surface of the sea.

The flooring, composed of brass and black-and-white terrazzo, symbolizes the transition from lunar day to night, offering a unique perspective on the passage of time within this timeless space.

This encompassed elegant panelling, doors, customised wardrobes, striking lobby features, and a magnificent spiral staircase that commands attention at the heart of the main lobby.

In addition to these joinery accomplishments, we undertook the comprehensive custom manufacturing and interior fit out for the lavish spa, a destination unto itself. The St. Regis Riyadh spa, an expansive circular oasis, claims the title of the city’s largest wellness haven. Here, guests can indulge in a plethora of rituals, enveloped in the serene ambience.

The St. Regis Riyadh is the second project we have executed for this iconic hotel brand, having recently completed the fit out and manufacturing for The St. Regis Kuwait.

Cheekee Munkee is a fun, playful and unique kids’ fashion brand, driven by a passion for quality and responsible buying. So far, Havelock One has supplied shop fittings for 14 locations, and our team had great fun as we, too, played with the brand’s vibrant colours during the bulk manufacturing journey that started in our factory. We manufactured all the individual retail display units that are needed to display their trendy and sustainable products. The first thing you notice when you walk into the store is the bright, bold hues of yellow, pink, and blue that adorn the walls and floors. And then there’s the brand face – the little cheeky monkey. This adorable little character is everywhere, from the clothes to the walls to the shopping bags.

To add a bit of playfulness, we got the Cheekee Munkee heads revolving on their fixtures. Focusing on the collaboration with the brand, here’s what the brand director, Jazz Hayer had to say about our execution: “Thank you, #TeamHavelockOne for producing our New Venture Brands store. The Starbucks store in KAFD, Riyadh, is one of the first F&B stores in the GCC to have been awarded the prestigious LEED Platinum certification, and one of only six Starbucks stores globally.

We worked with our client to deliver the millworks manufacturing and interior joinery, using eco-friendly materials such as FSC certified wood and low VOC paints, adhesives and materials. The challenge for us was delivering the same excellent quality finish within the budget of a standard store, while ensuring every element would meet the LEED standard for accreditation.

As part of our scope we manufactured the coffee bar, banquettes, planters, artworks, merchandise units, condiment unit and wall claddings in our 520,000 sq. ft. factory in Bahrain and delivered to site for installation.

It is a great achievement for us to have been involved in delivering an award-winning store, which is recognised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) as one of the greenest café’s in the GCC.
