CID | Havelock Ahi Completes Fit-out For Four Seasons Hotel In Kuwait

Aidan Imanova, digital editor of CID - Commercial Interior Design, reports on our latest luxury hospitality turnkey fit-out project, the Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya.

“Fit out, Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait, Havelock AHI, Hotel design, Kuwait Middle East-based fit-out contractor has completed the fit-out works for Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait at Burj Alshaya.”

The scope includes fit-out and joinery works including wall cladding, wooden ceilings, flooring and doors for the guest rooms and suites, two F&B concepts, as well as the boutique store. The firm was also in charge of the sourcing and installation of carpets, draperies, and wall coverings for the main areas of the hospitality project; as well as being in charge of all associated decorative glass, metal and stone works.

The interiors of the hotel was designed by Yabu Pushelberg, featuring 217 guest rooms, 53 one-bedroom suites, six State Suites and one Royal Suite.

The two F&B concepts include Italian Dai Forni and pan-Asian restaurant Sintoho, both of which were designed by Kokaistduios Shanghai, and are located on the property’s 21st floor; connected by a 25m x 3m green wall.

Sintoho is inspired by Japanese and Chinese design including stone cladding and handcrafted partitions that surround the teppanyaki and dim sum stations – all hoods feature brass cladding, handmade in China exclusively for the hotel. The restaurant also includes water pillars, conceived by Kokaistduios to have a “slow motion air bubble flow”. For this, Havelock AHI sourced a supplier in Germany who created an air pump and aquarium pillar to comply with the design specification.

On the other hand, Dai Forni has an overarching fire theme, featuring a lava wall made of stone from Italy, cut in different shapes to create a lava-like elevation. The three pizza ovens in the restaurant have also been converted into centre pieces as part of the design.
The fit-out works also included The Coffee Suite by Starbucks, which includes a bespoke counter that was exclusively manufactured by Havelock AHI’s factory in Bahrain. While the prominent material for the counter is timer, the design process included 3D reference models and prototyping; conceptualised in close collaboration with the client.

This month, a major museum project designed by SSH was inaugurated in Kuwait, the newest addition to what is to become a cultural district within the country’s capital.
